The Illuminated Orchard

Gone are the glory days of bare bulbs on stringy cables. Lighting in any space is so incredibly important, and when it comes to creating inspired artistic moments in a space AND rethinking illumination, you have to get a little creative. Tasked with this very brief for an orchard inspired space in a grade 2 listed Georgian building, the planning regulations meant we could only add lighting from the existing wall sconce positions. To work around this, we forged bespoke, arched wall sconces that not only lit the immediate wall area, but also transported light to the centers of the room. To shade these beauties, we designed original paper mache lampshades shapred like the fruit of the orchard trees, or the robins eggs nesting in the branches.
