THE CABINET OF VEGANOSITY
The bland reception area at a premium nursery school in London was doing nothing to draw guests in from the outside. It was a standard white, boxy room with a tall, brown, uninspiring desk. A challenge that, of course, House of Kin were quick to accept!
So, inspired by age-old Victorian Cabinets of Curiosity, we created the world’s first ethical version: The Cabinet of Veganosity.
Featuring an eclectic collection of handcrafted objects and artefacts made entirely from sustainable felt, housed in museum-quality joinery, the cabinet reflects the school's playfulness and the curiosity of its attendees, as well as many a passerby!
At first glance, the installation echoes a genuine Victorian collection, but look a little closer, and you discover soft and fuzzy fossils, skeletons and a fertility goddess sitting alongside a unicorn skull, Van Gogh’s ear and the Cat in the Hat’s hat.
